ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The northern portion of Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard is closing today all the way to Carr, but the southern portion is reopening. This is all part of the transformation of the arch grounds. Construction crews have been working on the boulevard for more than a year. They raised the roadway and added a new concrete wall that is much higher than the old one and makes the area less vulnerable to flooding.
The rest of the work on the riverfront should be done sometime this year. Project leaders have released several virtual images revealing what people can expect the area to look like by 2017.
The $380 Million project is funded with private and public dollars.
