FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI)- Two men could be facing charges in connection with a police chase that started in Florissant, Missouri Wednesday night. The incident began around 10:30p.m. and ended at New Halls Ferry and Woodwind in North County. Police say two men inside a stolen white Chevrolet Malibu sped off when a Florissant officer approached the car and noticed a gun inside it.

The officer was alerted to the men after responding to a separate call at the Florissant Food and Liquor store.

Florissant`s Police Chief, Tim Lowery, says the suspects tried to run his officer off the road during the chase. The pursuit went onto I-270 for a brief time before the suspect got off at New Halls Ferry and ran the car off the road. They were caught a short time later. The chief called the situation dangerous for his officer. "There`s no doubt that he could have been shot, other people could have been shot during the pursuit, they could have shot at him- as we know that he was very aggressive on the roadway," said Lowery.

Lowery says officers found a gun and drugs in the car. Both suspects have criminal histories.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident.
