(KPLR) – A St. Louis man faces charges for dragging a county police officer the length of a football field during a traffic stop last week.

31-year-old Maurice Worthy is charged with first degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action.

Police say he was stopped by two officers in Spanish Lake last week, for a license plate violation.

They notice his license didn’t match.

That’s when Worthy took off, dragging the officer down the road.

Worthy is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
