NORTH COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- St. Louis County police are investigating an armed robbery at a Spanish Lake auto parts store. The incident happened around 8:45p.m. outside of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store near the intersection of Bellefontaine at Parker Road. Authorities are saying this case is "strange" because one of the suspects was wearing a gorilla mask and the other had on some kind of Halloween mask. The two masked suspects came in both armed with handguns. Two employees and one customer were in the store at the time.

According to police, the suspects made the workers empty both the safe and the cash drawer from the register. The criminals also made off with merchandise including some electronic equipment. They fled the scene toward Parker Road, in a dark colored four door sedan. No injuries were reported.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the area to see if that can provide any clues in the case.

County police have also confirmed that the Family Dollar located on Halls Ferry and Chambers was also robbed at gunpoint. One suspect came into that store with some kind of covering over his face. He showed a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The clerk gave the suspect the entire drawer and he took off. Nobody was hurt.

Police don`t believe the robberies are connected.
