ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KPLR) – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 56-year-old St. Louis man for suspected elderly neglect.

According to court documents, police found the 82-year-old victim inside her home in the 900 block of Active Drive. She’d been bedridden for approximately one year and had not bathed in six months.

The house was dilapidated and in decay, with mold, cigarette butts and ashes, feces, and broken glass covering the floors and sinks.

Prosecutors claim Timothy Barnes denied his mother food and would only bring her dirty water to drink. Barnes also allegedly threatened his brother if he tried to help.

Barnes denied these charges, claiming his mother is an alcoholic and has refused help.
