BAY COUNTY, FL - One of two teens accused in a two-week long crime spree across the southeast is speaking out for the first time since his arrest.

18-year-old Dalton Hayes is currently in a Florida jail, awaiting extradition to Kentucky.

He spoke to reporter Corey Dobridnia about his relationship with 13-year-old Cheyenne Phillips and more.

(Dalton Hayes/Accused teen): "I asked her how old she was and she lied to me and told me she was 18 for the longest time."

A tired and weary Dalton Hayes spoke from a room at the Bay County jail Tuesday.

Sharing his story for the first time since his arrest.

(Dalton Hayes/Accused teen): "I kept asking her old she was she kept telling me 18 almost 19."

One thing the teen is insistent on is when his relationship with Cheyenne started... His not knowing her real age.

(Dalton Hayes/Accused teen): "See she told me she had a truck, she had a license, she had all that good stuff. She said I'm 18 I'm not lying to you I said alright. She had fake IDs she'd show me. She had job stuff she'd show me."

But when the 18-year-old discovered his girlfriend was only 13, the two went on the run.... Eluding authorities over the last two weeks before police caught up with them in Panama City Beach.

The entire time knowing the underage teen had become pregnant and was carrying his child.

(Dalton Hayes/Accused teen): "We was fighting and arguing again... and she said by the way I had a miscarriage I just didn't know how to tell you. And I said all you had to do was just tell me something."

After his arrest Hayes was charged with a warrant out of Kentucky for custodial interference of a minor.

He was booked into the Bay County jail Sunday.

In court on Monday, the teen waived his right to an extradition hearing... And now awaits transport back to Kentucky.

(Voice of Corey Dobridnia/WMBB-TV): "I guess the question everybody wants to know is... was it all worth it?"

(Dalton Hayes/Accused teen): "Nah. It was worth the last 14 days with her, cause that's what made me happy, spending my time with her.  No one wants to put my niece and nephew behind. Nah...."
