FOX’s Empire tackles social issues of our time

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) - When the head of an entertainment company learns he has a debilitating disease, he must decide which of his three sons will take over his empire.

The cast includes high-profile, award-winning actors Terrence Howard ("Lucious Lyon") and Taraji P. Henson ("Cookie Lyon").

The show tackles social issues like homosexuality, racism, sexism and violence.

"I'm just glad to be part of a project that is going to force people to think," said Henson. "I think sometimes TV. can be a bit safe. Everything is tied up neat and the good guy always wins. We look at TV. news every day and sometimes the good guy doesn't win."

Music becomes the "sixth man" in the cast of characters. Original songs that support the storylines will be available for download each week.
