Homeless man charged with Belleville arsons

BELLEVILLE, IL (KPLR) – A homeless man has been charged in connection to three fires set in Belleville last week. Aaron Eldredge, 26, is being held in the St. Clair County Jail with a $75,000 bond.

Evidence was found at one of the arson scenes.  Police say the evidence directly linked Eldredge in this case. Surveillance video from a businesses played a large part in identifying the suspect.

Eldredge was found in a vehicle near Mel Price Park on Saturday.  Swansea Police were conducting traffic stops in the area.  He was taken to the police department without incident.

Three fires were set within an hour of each other last Tuesday morning.  They were all within 20 blocks of each other. All the fires started outside a car or building.
