Ferguson holds Christmas tree lighting for residents

FERGUSON, MO (KPLR) – The City of Ferguson has had little to be festive about this Holiday season, but nonetheless they held their annual Christmas tree lighting Sunday night.

Hundreds of Ferguson residents gathered for the event led by mayor James Knowles.

Ferguson has been the scene of rioting, looting and vandalism in the protests over the death of Michael Brown that wrecked a lot of the city’s businesses.

Still the mayor says events like the tree lighting will help the city carry on.

A lot of Ferguson residents told us the Christmas tree lighting was a good diversion from the troubles that’s gripped their city for months.
