“Ferguson Rebuild Initiative” to help businesses rebuild

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  A new initiative will help small business owners rebuild in the Ferguson area after the recent civil unrest.

Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander has partnered with the Regional Business Council and North County Incorporated To start the, "Ferguson Rebuild Initiative". It will provide non-governmental grants to businesses in Ferguson, Dellwood and Jennings. The initiative is privately funded and is using no state or federal taxpayer dollars.

"To help start Ferguson rebuild I am going to donate $25,000 from my campaign account. I'm also pleased to announce that worldwide technology has agreed to match my contribution. Along with the regional business council I will work in the coming days and weeks to secure donations from Missouri business leaders who have been looking for a way to help. " said Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.

They're also launching FergusonRebuild.us, a crowd funding page so people from around the country can contribute and help the small business owners. According to North County Incorporated, on November 24th, about 73 businesses were vandalized and looted and 15 were completely burned down.
