ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – An Ellisville father returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan surprised his son Monday at Crestview Middle School.

Sgt. Joshua Montgomery was supposed to return home in January but with the help of his son's school he gave his son Tony and early Christmas present.  Sgt. Montgomery had been skyping with Tony's classmates for weeks planning the dramatic entrance at a school assembly.

Sgt. Montgomery presented an American flag flown in Afghanistan to the school's principal.  He also gave his son a military coin for a job well done as the temporary man of the house.

Both father and son said it would be a very special Christmas.

"It   means everything, it means everything to Anthony.  It’s the one thing he told me he wanted for Christmas," said Sgt. Montgomery.

Tony added, "This is probably going to be the best Christmas I've ever had because it was just going to be me and my sisters but now my dad is home."
