(KPLR) – High-tech giant Toshiba has a new product. It’s not a new smartphone or tablet, its produce.

Toshiba” transformed its sterilized clean room previously used to assemble floppy disks to grow thousands of lettuce plants without sun or soil.

The new line of fresh salads doesn`t need pesticides and isn`t exposed to bugs so it doesn`t need washing.

It takes the lettuce about a month to mature.

The nutrients are injected directly into the plants’ roots.

Currently, Toshiba’s clean veggies are only available in Japan.
