EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KPLR) – A metro east federal jury has convicted a Centreville man in two metro east robberies. The jury found Tim Collier guilty in the April 2013 robbery of the East St. Louis Jewelry and Loan and the July 2013 robbery of Arena Liquor in Belleville.

In the East St. Louis robbery, Collier pointed a silver revolver at the owner of the East St. Louis Jewelry and Loan and shot him when the owner reached for his own weapon.

Collier then stood on the counter and shot the owner in the back of the head.

The owner survived, but is paralyzed.

Prosecutors tried collier in federal court because robbery convictions carry stiffer sentences in the federal system.

Collier is facing a sentence of up to 55 years plus two life sentences.

A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.
