(KPLR)- Republican Mike Bost soundly defeated democrat incumbent Bill Enyart in the race for the Illinois congressional seat in the 12th district. The two combined to spend about $15 million dollars on the race.
Bost is set to meet with voters and thank them at Scott Air Force Base at 7a.m. Wednesday morning.
Bost, 53, snatched the 12th district’s seat away from the democrats. He celebrated the win with supporters Tuesday night. It was one of the most closely watched congressional races in the country.
It even gained the attention of Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner.
Boehner attended some of Bost’s campaign events.
