MAPLEWOOD, MO (KPLR)-A party in Maplewood erupted in gunfire Saturday night and police are still looking for the gunman. It happened on Sarah Avenue just over a block from the city's thriving downtown. Three people were hit in this shooting. All three were taken to the hospital. There is no word on their conditions.

Photos shot by Chris Gagne, a freelance journalist with Argus News Service, show the scene. Police say it was around 11:30pm when something went awry during a party being held inside an apartment on Sarah Avenue near Limit Avenue, literally just steps from the St. Louis city line.

Gagne, who took the pictures, reports witnesses telling him the suspects kicked in doors to other apartments in an effort to escape out a back window of the building.

Police aren't saying what they believe led to the gunfire. As officers arrived on the scene, they spotted the suspects and began chasing what they describe as a late model SUV. They raced into the city, losing pursuing police near Manchester and Kingshighway.

Police have been working the case since, but to this point haven't released any more details on who they're looking for in connection with this shooting.
