GARY, Ind. — Charges are still pending against a Gary man who’s accused of killing a 13-year-old neighbor, because the boy laughed at him.

Police say Kobe Jones was shot nine times near his home in the 1000 block of Polk Street Friday night.

The suspect had returned home to discover his house had been burglarized.

He began knocking on neighbors’ doors to find out who had broken into his home.

Jones was shot multiple times on his front porch. The suspect and his girlfriend were seen leaving the area.

The suspect had just been released from jail when he discovered the burglary. Both he and his girlfriend remain in police custody.
