RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO (KTVI) - The sound walls only been up for about five years. Friday MoDOT began removing some panels along Highway 40.

You wouldn't notice anything different driving by the walls. The walls look the same, but bridge inspectors did notice something concerning earlier this week.

"You really can`t fix the cracks you have to replace those posts and so we thought we should go ahead and take them down as soon as possible to get them out of there as a precautionary measure." said Greg Horn - MoDOT District Engineer.
MoDOT engineers say drivers were not and are not in any danger since the sound panels are not close to the highway. They will continue removing these panels Saturday, then replace the posts and reinsert them over the next few weeks.
