Deadly accident shuts down I-70 at First Capitol for two hours

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) - The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were shut down in St. Charles County for about two hours Friday morning after a driver reportedly hit a pedestrian.

The Missouri Highway Patrol did confirm the fatality but did not give any other details.  The accident happened at 4:15 a.m. just after First Capitol Drive.  Accident reconstruction crews were on the scene. All eastbound traffic was  diverted off the highway at First Capitol.

Traffic was backed up for miles as the morning commute got started.
