“She wrote up her own informal custody papers and indicated she was giving custody away to this other individual,” said St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar.
“The evidence went on to show the individual who had temporary custody per this informal agreement was herself a known heroin user,” Lohmar said.
Cozzoni is also charged with making a false police report because she told police her son had been kidnapped by the person with whom she had the agreement. All the charges are misdemeanors. Cozzoni is free on $2500 bail.
“The first question that comes to my mind is where is the father in all this? Why wasn`t he there to step in and take care of his child?” Lohmar said. “Those are questions we don`t have answers for unfortunately.”
