(KTVI)-- In Lincoln County, 9 inches of rain fell causing a Foley man`s lake to swell threatening to spill over his driveway.

He and his neighbor went out to clear the debris from the culvert and the homeowner was sucked in.
The man was in incredible pain and he was losing feeling in his right leg.

The Old Monroe Fire Department was assisted by neighboring fire departments. They secured him in a harness so the man would not get sucked in any further. But they knew they needed an excavator to break the levee so they called 'The Recking Crew' a local construction company. Once the levee broke they were able to hoist the man out of a basket and haul him away.

The man was in the water for 3 and half hours and according to the fire chief he suffered hypothermia and a minor leg injury.  He was transported to St. Joe's in St Charles for treatment.
