ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- The next step in the renovation of the arch grounds along the riverfront got started Thursday with a ceremonial groundbreaking.
This third phase of the project involves new landscaping, pathways and the removal of hundreds of trees.
Crews will remove dirt, replace trees and install new landscaping on both the north and south grounds of the arch.
The first two phases involve placing the lid over Interstate 70 and raising Lenor K Sullivan Boulevard.
The landscaping project costs more than $27 million and is being paid for by the voter approved Proposition P sales tax.
