St. Louis police officer injured chasing suspect

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The St. Louis police department is investigating an incident in the 5000 block of Virginia in which a officer was injured while chasing a suspect. The incident occurred just after 6 pm when the officer received a call for a suspicious person and spotted the suspect. The suspect ran with the officer in pursuit.

The suspect ran into an apartment building, slamming a door causing glass in the door to shatter. The glass from the door cut the officers arm leaving a deep wound.

The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect was taken into custody.

An investigation is ongoing.
