BEL RIDGE, MO (KPLR)- One man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the neck early Monday morning in Bel-Ridge.

The man showed up at the QuikTrip at I-170 and Natural Bridge for help.

He got that help quickly because two Bel-Ridge police officers just happened to be inside the business getting a cup of coffee when the victim came in bleeding profusely from his neck.

Officers from several departments responded when it all went down about 12:50am.

St. Louis county police detectives are now taking the lead on the investigation.

Police say the man was not shot at the QT- he just came there for help.

At this point, we`re told it is unclear where exactly the shooting happened.

For a time, authorities did have a stretch of the street right by the QT- blocked off with police tape.

Investigators say although the man was shot in the neck, the wound appears to be non-life threatening and he is expected to survive.

He was shot one time.

Police are calling him very lucky.

We don`t know much about the victim- just that he is an adult male who is not from Bel Ridge.

Police have no information on any suspects in the case.
