(KPLR)- Hunters and recreational shooting enthusiasts will soon have something to celebrate.  The Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center at the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area in St. Charles is set to undergo a major renovation. An open house will take place on Thursday, August 28th.

Bryant Hertel, Shooting Range Supervisor, gives us a preview of what's to come.

The range, originally built in 1975, hasn't had any major upgrades in nearly 40 years. It currently has the most user of MDC ranges statewide.

The existing shooting range will temporarily close for public use in January 2015. It will remain closed for close to 30 months while the new range is constructed on the same site.
