FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) -  Life has been far from normal for those living near the protest sites. They've dealt with tear gas canisters, police barricades, blocked streets and violence.

Folks I spoke with were not leaving their house. Thursday night with the help of Govenor Jay Nixon and President Barack Obama, addressing the issue and taking St. Louis County Police off duty, they hope they can go outside.  Neighbors want people to have the freedom to demonstrate peacefully with the Missouri State Highway Patrol taking over.  It has been a crazy and tense situation for neighbors along West Florissant.
