ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – There was a National Moment Of Silence Thursday for Michael Brown and others killed in police-involved shootings. Locally, supporters joined in downtown not far from the arch grounds and Busch stadium.

The National Moment of Silence was promoted through Twitter and Facebook posts. Organizers promised a peaceful demonstration to silently protest what they call excessive police force. The mother Michael Brown showed up to thank the crowd of more than four hundred supporters.  She did not speak at the vigil but others told the demonstratorts  must value life. They must not let this rally to be just one event and that they must continue to work for justice.

There was a police presence for the vigil. St. Louis city offices wearing their regular blue uniforms, not in riot gear, were seen talking to the demonstrators and even taking pictures with them.
