Demonstrators met by police in riot gear in Ferguson

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Police have arrived in riot gear as demonstrators rally at the Ferguson Police Department. The rally itself has been canceled off and on all morning long following the looting and vandalism overnight.  Community members have agreed that this is a sad situation and several of them oppose this use of force.

They believe that the shooting was wrong, and a taser would have been acceptable.

The Ad Hoc Committee for Justice on Behalf of Michael Brown is handing out fliers with several demands . The community wants the officer’s name released and are requesting that he gets fired and charged with murder.

The chief of police for Ferguson says they will not be tolerating any hostility.

Everyone is asked to arrive, remain calm and stay peaceful.
