puppies(KTVI) – There is an update on small dogs rescued from a suspected hoarder last month in Carter County.   Some have already found homes.

Thirty-nine chihuahuas and other small mixed breed dogs were found together in a large crate.  Investigators say the woman who owned them planned to dump the crate on the side of the highway.

Some of the dogs had severe matting and hair loss, parasites and fleas.  There were also some newborn puppies that are being cared for in foster homes.   Also, some Bassett Hounds rescued in Douglas County are still too sick to be adopted.

The Humane Society says the 10-week-old puppies were very thin and had varying degrees of pneumonia and serious ear and eye infections.
