ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - A stubborn low pressure system continues to swirl across the area.   After depositing 1-2" of rain (1.42" at Lambert) across the metro area,  the rain is diminishing fairly quickly across the region and a dry slot has developed.  The dry slot's arrival will be welcome since the rain will taper to occasional light rain by 4pm for the metro region-in time for the Red Sox vs Cardinal game scheduled for 6:15pm.  However,  showery conditions will persist into the evening across the river in Illinois.  Temperatures will hold in the 70s into the evening as well.
