(KPLR) – Ameren crews are working to restore power to over 4,000 customers in St. Louis county.  A huge tree fell on a Florissant mother’s car late Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Sansu Drive.  Damage to cars and trees is a common sight Thursday morning following storms that rolled through St. Louis County.  The area was hit hard. Lightning lit up the sky, rain pounded the ground and wind swept through neighborhoods.

Several power lines were also damaged causing the power outages.

At one point 18,000 customers were in the dark.

As of 7 a.m. more than 4,000 customers are still without power.
