(KPLR) - Steve Stenger soundly defeated Charlie Dooley in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary grabbing 66 percent of the vote. Stenger prevailed in large part due to his message that is it is time for a change in county government.
Dooley fired back throughout the campaign touting his political experience and relationships he has built with the City of St. Louis and business leaders.
The Missouri primary battle got ugly toward the end with attack ads and serious allegations from both sides.
Both candidates seemed confident going into election night. Stenger will face republican Rick Stream in November's general election.
