ALTON, IL (KPLR) – A dead body was found in a car in a shed in Alton off of Powhatten and Seminary.  Around 2 pm Tuesday afternoon a 7-year-old girl was playing next to the shed and discovered the body.  She ran to tell a neighbor what she saw and when Carolyn Bourland looked inside the car she saw a black male between the age of 25-and-35 years old.

Neighbors say the car has been in the shed for 6 years.  The family of 32-year-old Michael Womack was on hand as the Alton Police Department and the Illinois State Patrol were collecting evidence. Womack’s aunt who says Michael went missing six years ago. She said that if this was his body it would give her family closure, "because it's been so long and hard."  I saw police asking Michael’s family questions about Michael’s disappearance. Alton police are in the early stages of their investigation but once they have identified the man’s identity they with will notify family members.
