Rolla man arrested for 22 year old homicide

ROLLA, MO (KTVI)- A man has been arrested for a second time in connection with a Rolla, MO murder 22 years ago. On July 8, 1992, the body of Jerry Wayne King was found near the entrance to the Gourd Creek Cave, near the end of what is now County Road 7270.  Following an investigation, William Earl Harrison, 28-years old at the time, was arrested for the murder but was later released.

The case turned cold.

In 2013, the Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney reopened the case. It was taken on by the Criminal Investigative Unit assisted by an investigator from the Prosecutor’s Office.  After numerous interviews and other examinations, a warrant was issued for now 49-year old William Earl Harrison.

Harrison was arrested Friday, August 1, 2014, on charges of Murder in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action.
