Police investigating officer involved shooting in Granite City

GRANITE CITY, IL (KPLR) – Late Saturday afternoon a shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Delmar in Granite City that involved an officer. Granite City police say an officer responding to an altercation confronted a suspect during the investigation and had to discharge his weapon.

Granite City police are investigating the incident and obtaining a search warrant to enter the home of the altercation.

The wounded suspect was transported to a St. Louis hospital.

The Illinois State Police has taken over the officer shooting the suspect investigation.
