ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– About 3,600 St. Louis public school students got a letter telling them they were going to the wrong school this coming school year.

The school district says the mistake came during a mail merge of 25,000 letters to students informing them of their school assignments for 2014-2015.

They became aware of the problem when a parent contacted them.

The district has contacted all 3,600 students to tell them of the error.

Those students were properly enrolled in the correct school.
