ST. CHARLES, MO (KPLR) - A suspect  barricaded in a St. Peters home has taken their own life. St. Charles police, firefighters and the SWAT team arrived on the scene since 10am.  They have located a body.

Police initially responded to a call of someone trying to overdose on pills.  When they arrived at the scene they heard gunshots.  They then found a body in the backyard.

The reason for the heavy police presence was because investigators were concerned that there may be another person inside the home.  They later found that there was no one else at the residence.

Police evacuated homes near the intersection of Harris drive and Mexico road as a precaution.

The scene is being cleared after investigators found that the situation is over.
