(KTVI) - Contradictory court rulings have been issued on the Affordable Care Act.  Residents in Missouri and Illinois are among the millions of people wondering if they'll be able to afford coverage.  In one ruling, a federal court panel in Virginia backed federal subsidies for health care premiums.  However, a divided panel in D.C. said financial aid can be paid only in states that have set up their own insurance exchanges.

Missouri, Illinois and 34 other states have not set up their own exchanges.  They are relying on the federal government's program.

If the  D.C. ruling stands, those affected would have to pay for the full cost of care.
