Rayne, LA (KPLR) – A Metro East woman was killed in a single vehicle crash near Rayne, Louisiana Wednesday afternoon.

Family members confirm to Fox 2 News that 47-year-old Sandra Farris was thrown from a truck after it ran off Interstate 10 and crashed into a tree.  Sandra’s husband Bob was driving the truck and lost control when a trailer he was hauling started to sway.   Bob Farris and a 19-year-old passenger were hospitalized after the accident.  Sandra Farris was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

Sandra and Bob Farris were the focus of a Fox 2 News story in April 2014 after a picture of Sandra was rejected by People magazine for its “Beauty At Every Age” photo contest.  Bob had submitted a picture of Sandra holding a pistol.  When People rejected his entry,  he tried again with another gun picture.  After a second rejection, a third photo of Sandra without a gun was accepted.  People told Fox 2 News its rules reserved its right to reject photos for inappropriate content.
