Fire rips through Litchfield home as authorities attempt arrests

(KPLR) – A fire has ripped through a Litchfield, Illinois home while authorities tried to arrest suspects in an armed robbery.

Police say that the fire was set to distract authorities but it didn’t work. In the end, several guns were found and seven people were arrested.

This began as an armed robbery investigation.  On Saturday, three people trying to buy a car were robbed at gun point.  The suspects fired several shots at the ground and in the air to scare the victims. The suspects stole $1,000 dollars. On Sunday, seven suspects were arrested at various homes in Litchfield including one in the 700 block of West Corwin.

Truman Seago, 50, April Barnes, 46, Brittany White, 24, John Ozell, 41, Albert Buffington, 41, Lloyd Perkins, 49 and Meghan Finley, 29 were all arrested when authorities arrived at the home.

They believe that one of the suspects started the fire.

The fire department was able to smother the flames.

Bonds for the suspects range from $300- to $500-thousand dollars.
