Plane crashes near Creve Coeur Airport; Pilot survived

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) – A pilot has survived after his plane crashed roughly 20 feet from the roadway near Creve Coeur Airport around 5a.m. Thursday morning.  The crash happened south of the Page Avenue Extension.  Emergency equipment is still blocking the eastbound lanes of Route 364.  Firefighters responded to a call of a plane down and on fire.  The pilot was found outside of the aircraft when crews arrived.  He was taken to an area hospital.

A command post has been set up on the highway.

Several fire districts and Maryland Heights police are on the scene searching through the woods to make sure that all victims have been accounted for.
