SEATTLE – A 70-year-old woman is carjacked but the would-be thieves didn’t get far because they didn’t know how to drive a stick shift.

According to, three men with a gun tried to carjack 70-year-old Nancy Fredrickson after she returned from a garage sale.

She says she was taking things out of her car when the men approached her with a gun and told her to give them her keys.

Once they got into the car, they realized Fredrickson’s Kia was a manual and none of them could figure out how to operate it.

“I could hear them trying,” Fredrickson said. “They put the keys in, they turned the lock, but they couldn’t figure out how to get it started.”

The men eventually gave up and fled on foot.
