ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Soccer fans crowded into sports bars around the area Sunday to watch the USA men’s soccer team play against Portugal.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The St. Louis Ambush hosted one watch party at Ballpark Village.  Fans were decked in red, white and blue.  Some were chanting, “U.S.A., U.S.A.”

Ambush owner Andrew Haines was excited to see so much enthusiasm.

“It just helps confirm it’s the right decision to be in the business,” said Haines.

Fans leaving Ballpark Village were optimistic even though USA allowed a last second goal.

“We’re still in a good spot,” said one fan.

Others were simply impressed with the level of enthusiasm for World Cup Soccer.

“You want to be around a group of people that are that enthused about their country,” said a fan watching the match from Ballpark Village.  He added, “It’s everything you could ask for.”
