ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – School is out for the summer but the need to feed thousands of children isn’t.

Mayor Francis Slay announced the new summer meal program on Wednesday at the Monsanto Family YMCA on Page avenue. Nearly 400,000 breakfast and lunch meals will be served to students this summer to help meet the needs of many who do not have access to nutrious meals.

The city is sponsoring 81 volunteer sites that will serve those meals through August 8th to anyone 18 years or younger, or those with a mental or physical disability.
