Suspects charged in Bel-Ridge shooting

BEL-RIDGE, MO (KPLR) – Two suspects have been arrested and charged in the police involved shooting Monday in Bel-Ridge.

28-year-old Joshua Martin is charged with multiple counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. Charges were also filed against 23-year-old Christopher Martin for distributing narcotics and one count of intent to distribute narcotics.

St. Louis County detectives were conducting an undercover buy operation at a home on Elmhurst, when police moved in to arrest Joshua and Christopher Martin.

While attempting to take Joshua and Christopher Martin into custody, Joshua Martin displayed a gun pointing it at detectives.

Fearing for their lives, one detective shot Joshua Martin.

Martin was transported to a hospital for treatment, and then taken into custody.

Joshua Martin is being held on a $150,000 cash only bond and Christopher Martin’s bond has been set at $80,000.
