ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - St. Louis firefighters quickly put out a fire at the St. Louis Zoo Monday afternoon at around 12:30pm.
The fire was at a Kettle Corn stand near the south entrance. The zoo was not evacuated, but patrons were moved away from the area. According to a release from the St. Louis Zoo, "Visitors were immediately moved from the area around the stand near the South Entrance and the train was stopped. Visitors were allowed to exit the Zoo at the North Entrance and another gate near the Primate House was opened for those who parked at the South Entrance."
The fire was extinguished minutes after firefighters arrived on the scene. The origin of the fire is under investigation. At this time, fire officials say there were no injuries.
The Zoo says that all exhibits and the train are operating as usual. But, the area around the stand is closed at this time.
