UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KPLR) – University City police are looking for the man who held up a Family Dollar Monday morning at gunpoint.

The robbery happened around 8:45 am at the store on Olive.

Investigators say the suspect made a small purchase then showed the clerk a handgun in his waistband and demanded all the money from the register.

The clerk complied and police say the man got away with a small amount of cash.

A store employee Erica Ward had this to say, 'I was shocked because all the people that come down here you never would have thought that anybody would down here and rob the store. It`s a nice environment, we`re friendly. I mean I don`t know what`s going on with the people these days, I don`t know.'

The suspect was the only customer in the store at the time of the robbery.

Nobody was hurt.
