BREESE. IL. (KPLR) - Family and friends of 23-year-old Lana Albert just want to know why their loved is dead. Her body was found along Old Highway 50 in Breese, IL Sunday morning. Police had reports of someone walking in and out of traffic. A short time later they found Albert’s body.

“We’re still trying to grasp it and it’s just so hard,” said Lana’s father, Ray Albert.

“She was just such a fantastic young lady.”

He said his daughter grew up in Odin, IL and has been living in Edwardsville.

Ray Albert is pleading for anyone with information to contact the Breese Police Department at 618-526-7226.

“It’s not because we want to be vengeful or any retribution,” said Albert. “We just want to know what happened so we can have some closure.”

Ray Albert said his daughter was a dental assistant in Glen Carbon and was heading back to school to become a dental hygienist. He said she was especially close with her cousins.

“She was beautiful and she was caring,” said tearful cousin Sierra Horst.

She also is pleading for anyone with information to step up and contact police.

“That’s all we want, “said Horst. “It would mean so much.”

Lana Albert’s father wanted to thank everyone who sent condolences.

As of Sunday night, funeral arrangements were still pending.
