St. Louis middle school student in national spelling bee semi-finals

LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – A St. Louisan has advanced to the finals of the national spelling bee.   13-year-old Gokul Venkatachalam is a seventh grader at Parkway West Middle School in Chesterfield. He’s also a three time competitor in the Scripps Spelling Bee, finishing 10th in 2012 and 19th last year.

He’s managed got through the semi-finals spelling the words morbilli and colloque. The finals start this afternoon.
