CASEYVILLE, IL (KPLR) – She’s accused of leaving her 10-month old son alone in a hotel room so she could party in the early morning hours of Mother’s Day.

35-year-old Jennifer L. Hawes has been charged with endangering the life and health of a child. She was arrested inside a hotel on Old Country Inn Drive in Caseyville, Il. Police say several guests heard the child crying and called the front desk of the hotel. Police believe the child was left alone for at least one hour.

“The mother was later located inside the hotel in the hallway in an intoxicated state,” said Caseyville police Det. Gerard Spratt.

Spratt said Hawes was intoxicated and appeared to be high on heroin.

“She wasn’t remorseful. That’s for sure,” said Spratt. “She was very uncooperative with us.”

Spratt said Hawes has been released from jail and will be assigned a court date. He said the child appeared to be okay and is now in the care of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
