HIGH RIDGE, MO (KPLR) – Investigators in Jefferson County are trying to find out who set fire to an elementary school playground.

On Sunday, firefighters rushed to the playground at Murphy Elementary School and put out the fire. Jefferson County sheriff deputies also located graffiti on the school building.

While authorities investigated the fire and vandalism, graffiti was also discovered at Brennan Woods Elementary and Wooridge Middle School. All three schools are in the Northwest R-I School District in the northwest Jefferson County.

The Northwest superintendent says the district is in the process of cleaning up the mess. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office at 636-797-5515.
